L1 burst fracture with associated vertebral angioma.
Vertebral angioma is a common bone tumor. We report a case of L1 vertebral angioma revealed by type A3.2 traumatic pathological fracture of the same vertebra. Management comprised emergency percutaneous osteosynthesis and, after stabilization of the multiple trauma, arterial embolization and percutaneous kyphoplasty.
متن کاملPosterior Vertebral Injury; Is This a Burst Fracture or a Flexion-Distraction Injury?
In thoracolumbar spinal fractures with posterior column injury for applying proper management, it is important to distinguish a flexion-distraction injury (FDI) from a three column burst fracture (BF) as in clinical examination, both may have a similar significant tenderness on direct spinal palpation. Careful attention to the comprehensive clinical examination and detailed imaging features are...

متن کاملLate fracture associated with retained internal fixation.
Plates and screws act as stress risers and may result in subsequent fractures (Burny, Bourgois and Donkerwolcke 1980). Despite this, metal is frequently left in situ after union has occurred. Recently we have seen five fractures 20 to 60 years after internal fixation. These cases show that even corroded plates that have lost their structural integrity can cause problems. Case 1. A 61-year-old m...
متن کاملShort Segment Fixation Versus Short Segment Fixation With Pedicle Screws at the Fracture Level for Thoracolumbar Burst Fracture
Objective: The most prevailing surgical procedure in the treatment of thoracolumbar burst fractures, Short Segment Fixation (SSF), is often followed by loss of correction or hardware failure which may be signifi cant enough to require another surgical intervention. In order to take advantage of its benefi ts but to avoid or diminish the risk and impact of associated drawbacks, some other altern...
